Hyundai Ioniq

The Ioniq philosophy is that electric cars should have all the dynamic ride and handling characteristics that make driving a pleasure. You’ll be able to enjoy this core principle with the three drivetrain options, Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid and Electric. Every Ioniq will share the same platform and sleek, modern design. The Hybrid and Electric will be launched first and the Plug-In Hybrid will follow in 2017.

 

 

HYBRID

The high-efficiency petrol engine and 32kW electric motor work together to deliver the perfect balance of power and efficiency with less fuel consumption and lower emissions. The electric motor delivers its torque immediately on start-up, and is powered by a compact 1.56 kWh Lithium-Ion Polymer battery that is recharged on the move, especially by the energy stored during braking.

PLUG-IN HYBRID

A powerful 8.9kWh Lithium-Ion Polymer battery fuels the torque-rich 45kW electric motor, which enables more than 31 miles of zero emission driving. When working in tandem with the high-efficiency petrol engine, it delivers a considerable performance boost with a driving range in line with that of a regular combustion engine. The battery regenerates energy on the move and can also be recharged via an external power supply.

ELECTRIC

The 88kW electric motor’s torque-rich performance is powered by the super-efficient 28kWh Lithium-Ion Polymer battery. It enables a driving range of up to 174 miles on a single charge. The battery is located low in the chassis, which also lowers the car’s centre of gravity – essential for rewarding and responsible driving.

Design

With a low roof line and flowing design, the Ioniq’s modern look is both stylish and smart. The signature Hyundai hexagonal grille comes with a black tint, giving a stylish finish which will definitely turn heads around town.

 

Technology

High-tech design and innovation define the clutter-free dashboard in the Ioniq. It’s dual-mode digital instrument cluster automatically changes appearance and colour when a different drive mode is selected. The navigation system features a high-resolution 8″ screen and your smart phone will connect seamlessly with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enabled entertainment system.

Safety

Along with the 7-airbag system and robust body structure, drivers and passengers are protected by comprehensive line-up of advanced driver assist technologies including:

• Lane Keeping Assist System, this warns the driver of unintended lane departure and applies corrective steering if necessary.
• Autonomous Emergency Braking, if a potential collision is detected the system gives a visual and audible warning then intervenes with partial or complete brake application.
• Smart Cruise Control, this maintains a safe distance between you and the preceding vehicle.
• Blind Spot Detection, the rear sensors detect the proximity of other vehicles when changing lanes or backing out of parking spaces.
